We offer 5 different types of email service and if you are confused as to what email service to choose, this blog would shed some light. You can follow the steps below to find out which email service best suits you.

Email Service
1
Do you host a mail server?

The first question to ask yourself is whether you host your own email server. If the answer is no, then you are looking at the Full Service Email and Email Forward Service. Full service email allows you to create email accounts with us for your domain and send/receive emails via our email servers. You can use any IMAP/POP email clients such as Outlook or Apple Mail to send and receive emails. Or you can use our webmail interface like you use a public email service such as Gmail or Outlook.

The difference between full service email and email forwarding is that you can create email accounts such as yourname@yourdomain.com and log into that emailbox to send and receive emails. Email forwarding allows you to receive emails at your existing email address such as existingaccount@gmail.com so it is a simple forwarding.

Difference between email backup and email store/forward

Email Backup and Email Store/Forward have the same function of receiving emails for your domain and forwarding them to your mail server on non-traditional SMTP ports (traditional port being 25). These 2 services are configured the same on our backend. They are 2 different services to target different usages.

If your ISP blocks incoming port 25 and you need to receive emails on non-standard port such as port 26, or you want your emails to be filtered by our anti-spam system, you can use the email store/forward service and list Dynu as the MX records.

If you host your own mail server without any ISP block, you are worried that your email server may go down. You can use the email backup service and list Dynu as the secondary MX record.

3
My ISP blocks port 25, what do I need to host my mail server?

To bypass inbound port 25 blocks to receive emails, you can run your email server on an alternative port and use our Email Store/Forward service. To bypass outbound port 25 blocks to send emails, you can use our SMTP Outbound Relay service.

The outbound relay service can also be used if emails from your dynamic IP are landing in the recipient's spam folder and you want the emails to be sent out from a dedicated IP with reverse DNS or PTR record set up.

4
Does full service email include SMTP outbound relay?

No and Yes. The Full Service Email and SMTP Outbound Relay are 2 separate services with different email server hosts and functions. The full service email does not include SMTP outbound relay. However, the full service email has SMTP outbound function itself. You can connect to the provided SMTP server and authenticate with the created username and password to send out emails.
